Bryan Fletcher was born in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on June 27, 1986. It didn't take long before Bryan was completely wrapped up in everything about it.
When Bryan was just shy of three years old he was diagnosed with A.L.L or Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It was this diagnosis that started his amazing journey as a Nordic Combined athlete. While still battling cancer, Bryan was introduced to the world of Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined by some influential people in the sport. He was hooked from day one. Bryan would divide time between chemo treatments and the sport, which helped to keep his spirits alive.
Bryan worked his way up the ranks from that point on. He spent every second he could at the famous Howleson Hill where he would jump and ski with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. Shortly after graduating high school in November of 2004, Bryan became a member of the national Nordic Combined Team. In his first competitive season on the national team, he was named to the World Championship team. In 2012 Bryan's results continued to improve. He finished a strong 17th place in the overall and put his name in the Nordic Combined history books as only the 5th American to ever win the Holmenkollen World Cup at Oslo, Norway. The hard work continued to pay off, in the 2013 season Bryan again was able to land inside the top 30 in the overall including two podiums in team events. One podium came in a regular world cup, and the other at his 4th World Championships. Billy Demong, Taylor Fletcher, Todd Lodwick and Bryan secured a team bronze in Val Di Fiemme, Italy.
Bryan was named to the 2014 Olympic team this season. He currently is based in Park City, Utah where he trains full time with his teammates. Bryan works part time at various restaurants around town, however he spends most of his time trying to help the youth of the sport excel to new levels. Whatever time he has left is spent volunteering for various cancer organizations. In just three years he has been involved with multiple organizations and events which has raised over a million dollars to go towards the fight against cancer and families fighting cancer.
