Reopening Safety Protocols

Knead a Massage is looking forward to reopening our Salt Lake City studio on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 and our Park City studio on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. While there will be changes built-in to ensure the safety of our clients and team members, our commitment to providing an exceptional client experience remains. We cannot wait to get back to helping you do what you love!

In both of our studios, we will host limited hours. We hope to return to our traditional 9:00 am - 9:00 pm daily schedule once we have all of our new health and safety protocols well established. Additionally, we will only be booking appointments in an "old school" fashion - via telephone. We have temporarily disabled our online booking capability so that we can stagger client appointments to support a key component of public health in the studio: social distancing. Appointments will be booked on the hour, quarter-hour, half-hour, and 3/4 hour to mitigate traffic in our lobby.

Everyone in our team is determined to uphold the many enhanced health and safety protocols that we are implementing to create the outstanding experience we want each of you to have when you come in for a session. In addition to our studio hours and scheduling times, several other changes will be made to ensure health and wellness. We ask that you review and comply with these important changes as directed by the Salt Lake County Health Department, as well as those recommended by the CDC.

  • All employees will be required to wear masks at all times. We are asking all clients to wear masks in the studio lobby and while receiving supine bodywork.
  • Licensed Massage Therapists (LMTs) may choose to wear disposable gloves during the massage. Clients may also request that their LMT wear gloves.
  • The temperatures of all employees will be taken at the beginning of each shift. Employees with a fever or other symptoms of illness will be sent home to recover.
  • Clients' temperatures will also be taken prior to their appointment. Clients who register a fever greater or equal to 100 degrees Fahrenheit may be asked to reschedule their services when their fever symptoms have passed.
  • Limited numbers of LMTs will be scheduled for the same hours in order to keep the number of clients and employees in the common areas of the studio under 10 people at any given time.
  • We ask that clients arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of your appointment to limit the congregation of groups.
  • 15-minute cleaning breaks between sessions will assure sufficient time for your treatment room to be fully disinfected prior to and after your session.
  • Hot stone, Thai and Buddy/couples sessions will not be offered at this time. We hope to resume those protocols very soon!
  • Sterilization of the studio lobby will take place throughout the day and deep cleaning will occur each evening.
  • Lobby chairs will be spaced out to encourage social distancing
  • Cash will no longer be accepted as a form of payment. Cash gratuities may be provided directly to LMTs in an envelope if the client chooses to do so (envelopes will be available at the front desk and in your treatment). The front desk will not be able to make change.
  • As always, we will be asking for a method of payment to hold your appointment upon booking and encourage you to utilize that form of payment to cover the cost of your session. Doing so will limit the exchange of credit cards.

Due to the extensive changes required to maintain the highest level of safety, we have had to make slight changes to our pricing. Clients who currently hold gift certificates will still be able to redeem them for the session lengths they were purchased for. While this was a difficult decision, we appreciate your understanding of this necessary change.
